Knowing Yourself
Trainees' Testimony

This is the 6th time I have participated in drama in education-related training, and each training session brought me a different surprise and gaining. These surprises come from different interpretations of the same situation by different individuals. After seeing everyone's performance, I was surprised and impressed that the story can happen in such a variety of ways. This is the result of the collision between different ideas, and I think this is exactly the charm of drama in education, and also a rich soil for cultivating creativity.

In drama in education, we must completely place ourselves on the certain characters in order to freely express our deep thoughts and feelings. For the simulation of the same event, each group has different interpretations, which is refreshing, and everyone has produced many different thoughts and opinions. Different people performing the same role will produce different results. In this role, I got the feelings of others, and explored and tested my thoughts from other aspects.

Drama in Education has the opportunity to think collectively, through role-playing and creation, to give yourself the opportunity to approach to the level of "empathy".
"Invisible Me" can be said to be a phenomenon in family education. The wonderful interpretation and effective questioning of the teachers opened my thinking and increased the possibility of how I deal with and how to solve the problem. Even a seemly action, or a still image can be used to design many activities and ask many questions, which is very interesting.

Drama in Education made me realize that I had been roughened in the teaching center for many years, which made me re-examine my attention to the students around me. There were many invisible bullies around us, but I ignored them. It is hoped that this learning opportunity will allow education to return to students, rather than simply teaching.
I think the biggest touch in this course is that, currently, little psychology is used in elementary education in our system, and even the teachers themselves don’t think much about the role of psychology in the education of “problematic students”. The systematic psychological counseling is rarely practiced, and this is exactly what we need to improve and face up urgently.

After this training, I felt that as an experienced teacher, I was solidified by too many things. My usual language of instruction might be a constraint on children, so I always complain that children do not express their ideas. Fewer and fewer kids speak in the classroom, and that’s because I am constantly framing and limiting students' thinking. So this time in the process of teaching and research, I constantly jump out of my own framework, and in the future I will give more initiative and freedom to children.
